i heart intervals

Warm-up, stretch
90 second fast intervals with 1 min rest in between (9x=21 min 30 sec)
Cool down, stretch

Ok, interval numbers 6 and 7 were kicking my butt but I finished strong. And seriously, my runs seem to go so much faster when I do intervals! If you're working towards training for a 5k, working some intervals into our runs is a great way to see your times improve overall. I did them pretty regularly back in Winter 2001-2002 and shaved almost 5 min off of my 5k best time.

Weigh-in is tomorrow. Feeling pretty good about it since I stayed on track for the last part of our vacay and quickly fell back into the routine once we were back in Abilene. Have I mentioned my new favorite Starbucks drink? Grande nonfat Cafe au Lait (or Miso, they call it different things at different locations) with three pumps of the sugar-free caramel syrup. Pretty much as good as a Caramel Macchiatto! Check this out if you want to see the breakdown of your current SB beverage. (Props go out to Laura who turned me on to this in the first place)

Stupid question: When you say "rest," is that like a walking rest or a stand-still-admire-the-clouds-and-birds rest. And do you do intervals on the "street" (or jogging path) or on a track?

Not a stupid question, actually a very good one. Because MY idea of rest is lounging on the couch watching many, many episodes of Grey's Anatomy while my husband brings me a cold margarita. But since that can't really happen during a interval workout, I do a fast walking rest. I've been doing intervals in my neighborhood but only because it's TX and everything is pretty much flat. Otherwise, I'd head to a track.
