I'll confess that I really didn't want to work out today. All the usual excuses crossed through my mind: "You're on vacation, take it easy...You deserve a break...I've worked really hard, missing one day won't matter...You're not used to running on this kind of terrain..." And while I didn't make it out of bed this morning to run, I did head out after our day o' fun in downown Seattle. Took the hills on and showed them who was boss. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the excuses because now I'm even more determined to stick to my work-outs for the rest of this vacay and honor the commitment I've made to Allie, to Jason, and most importantly, to myself, to take care of me: heart, mind, body and soul.

Weigh-in tomorrow...I'm expecting moderatley good things. I want it to be known that I have turned down dessert this whole trip. We're talking Oreos being passed right beneath my nose, finishing a conversation beside a tray of freshly baked brownies, walking by an entire table of delectable desserts at a 4th of July cookout. And nary a bite has gone in my belly! Now, I know that at some point it will be fine to take a taste, a bite, just a smidgen to satisfy the desire. But for now, I really want to establish the good habit of knowing it's there, knowing it will be there again, and that there will be another chance to have it. As a dear wise friend told me recently, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."
